The incredible story of the pioneering Pepe y Pepa
In 2019, when Pepe was visiting Pepa’s mom in Venezuela, he asked about the photo that was hanging on the wall in her living room. It was a photo similar to the one here: a photo of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. Pepa asked, in a kind of not-serious way, if Pepe wanted to walk to Santiago with her. His response was that he would like to do that, but a “Camino de verdad”—a complete Camino of 800 or more kilometers. And so it began. We planned to prepare to walk the Camino del Norte in 2020. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit us, and the plans got postponed to 2022. We completed the Camino del Norte in 2022, followed by the Camino Portugués in 2023 and the Camino Francés in 2024.
We loved what the Camino had done for us, and we decided to give something back to the Camino. Hence, the idea of starting our own albergue was born. With Pepe’s background in business and IT and Pepa’s background in healthcare, arts, and hospitality, we thought we would be able to pull this off, so here we are.
A sanctuary of rest without bunkbeds
Albergue Pepe y Pepa prides itself on having no bunk beds! Everyone is on the same level, the way we like it. We want every guest—whether they are young or elderly—to feel comfortable. That means we only offer single beds.
We try to respect each person’s privacy as much as possible by putting screens between the beds.
Lockers are provided so you can store your valuables.

We at Albergue Pepe y Pepa would love for our guests to have a memorable experience. And what makes better memories than sharing a dinner together? Most nights we provide a dinner for a small donativo to help us with the cost for the next meal. On the days we don’t provide dinner, we encourage you to cook together and have a nice meal to share. We have plenty of menu suggestions that can aid you when needed.
